ABOUT ABACUS METHODOLOGY

WHAT IS ABACUS?

An abacus consists of a wooden frame, rods, and beads.

On the top layer, there is one bead (heaven bead) and on the bottom, there are four beads (earth beads). There are thirteen to seventeen wooden poles that are very small and hold the beads in place. We will use abacus as add, subtract, multiply and divide thes are the benefits of abacus. Each rod represents a different place value – ones, tens, hundreds, thousands and so on.  Each bead in the upper deck has a value of 5, each bead in the lower deck has a value of 1 in the units, in the tens rod, each lower deck has a value of 10, and the upper bead is 50, and so on…

Addition and subtraction can easily be performed by moving beads along the rods of the abacus. As the beads represent the numbers, it helps the students understand the number concept by viewing a picture transformed into a number.

The abacus training for kids is best for the age group 4 to 12 years. It is scientifically proven that in this age group, the maximum percentage of brain development takes place hence this age group is the best time to introduce the abacus training to enhance the child’s brain functions.

Normally Abacus training consists of 8 levels to 10 levels depending on the courses run by the institutes. The total duration required to complete the course is 2 to 3.5 years.
